First, I want to say welcome to the new and improved blog! Welcome back to all of my amazing followers who have been with us on this journey from the beginning and welcome to those who are new to our journey. 🙂 My late husband, Aaron, & I originally started this blog as a way to update friends and family during his cancer journey and throughout that journey God introduced me to a new gift I didn’t even know I had…writing. I am a total numbers girl, so the thought of being a “writer” was completely foreign to me! However, writing has now become a true joy for me and over these past few years God has really been teaching me so much. My heart is exploding with hope and peace and I am finally starting to feel like myself again since Aaron passed away 3 years ago. So, now I’d like to share with you why I chose to name the blog “Running with Peace” and what it truly means to me.
Running with Peace:
I am learning that our journey’s are not static. They are and will continually move and change. This is what life is about, “running” through different seasons. Sometimes these seasons bring moments in our lives that we never anticipated we’d go through. So, how can we have peace when nothing around us makes sense? In Psalm 46:10 God tells us to, “Be still and know that I am God.” Throughout my journey I can definitely say that the most incredible moments I have experienced with God have come through learning to be still. It is possible to have true peace in the midst of our journeys if we can learn to be still.
“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus is calling.” Phil 3:14
God is waiting for us to just be still, quiet our minds and listen for His voice. He, in all of His greatness, wants to gently speak to us. He wants to give us peace and hope throughout our journeys. It is up to us to choose stillness, and it is definitely not easy. It was and still is very challenging for me to actually be still, to not talk, to not think and to not allow myself to be distracted by anything else. But, every time I allow myself to experience this stillness I not only learn more about Christ and grow in my faith, but I truly do experience a peace that transcends all understanding.
“This is precisely how our spirit drinks in the life of our risen Lord. And then we are enabled to face life’s conflicts and responsibilities, like a flower that has absorbed the cool and refreshing drops of dew through the darkness of the night. Yet just as dew never falls on a stormy night, the dew of His grace never covers a restless soul.” -A.B. Simpson
Welcome to Running with Peace! 🙂
