April 30th, 2011 ~ Update

We thank you for all the prayers for our son Aaron and his wife Suzanne. We continue to be reminded of the continuous emotional roller coaster of fighting cancer. Our last update asked for your prayers regard an MRI of the spine  that Aaron was to have next Monday, well that has changed.

Thursday Aaron put in a full day at the office but was feeling a higher level of pain in his upper back and shoulder, and then on Friday he was not able to go to the office risen to a 7 or 8 along with numbness and tingling in his fingers. The pain meds were not working and it was time to check with the doctor. Based on the pain level and what he was using for pain management the doctor wanted him admitted immediately to determine what was going on.

He was admitted to Sylvester Cancer Center at the University of Miami Friday at 6:00PM. The pain started to stabilize and the MRI ordered, at 10:00PM he started an emergency MRI.  True to form Aaron was a courageous warrior, he managed to lay perfectly still for two and a half hours with only two five minute breaks, while at a level 7 pain.

This morning we learned from a team of doctors that there is No major compromise or compression of the spine, but that the tumor was touching a nerve which was causing the pain. The team was now growing to include orthopedic surgeons to see if the tumor could be removed surgically vs. radiation. So, more tests this afternoon an additional CT scan and x-rays. Tomorrow we will learn the plan.

In closing with the prayer request, we must start by praising God for the victories.  There were No major issues with the structure of the spine.

Prayer requests:

  • Pray that the tumor in his spine will be successfully removed surgically
  • Pray that the CT scan of the abdominal tumor will also be able to be removed surgically
  • Pray that the systemic inhibitor treatment will be effective in stunting the grow of any addition cancer cells or tumors

Additional praise and thanks to God, Suzanne’s nausea is doing much better.

Prayer request:

  • Pray that the nausea will pass
  • Pray that Baby A will continue to grow to be perfectly healthy child
  • Pray that God will show his healing powers to Aaron and His miraculous ways by sending Baby A at this time, just to let us know that all is well and He is in control.

We remain faithful in TRUSTING the Lord.  We have placed Aaron into the hands of God and remain steady on a rocky ship, knowing that only our God can calm the seas.

We love you all and appreciate your prayers and tears.
